Mr. Shaw was formerly North American Vice President of Human Resources for DHL Danzas Air and Ocean, Deputy Mayor of the City of Yonkers, New York, and founder and first Director of the Internal Control Unit of the New York City Department of Investigation, during his over thirty-five years of professional experience.
During his career, he
- Built the first internal control unit for the NYC Department of Investigation from the ground up, upon the request of the Investigation Commissioner, and managed it for three years, achieving significant control improvements for the department.
- Served on the Parking Violations Bureau Task Force organized by the Office of the NYC Mayor to investigate and analyze municipal corruption and recommend internal controls and safeguards against fraud and abuse of public funds.
- Cut overtime for recycling in the Yonkers Public Works Department by over 90%, while achieving the City’s first accomplishment of its state mandated recycling goals.
- Managed the successful integration of the North American Human Resources function in the merger of DHL and AEI by the Duetsche Post.
- Re-built the management training program for the Institute for Family Health, oversaw and managed the inaugural leadership development programs and graduated three classes of new senior management prospects.
He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the Federalist Society, the Foundation for Economic Education, and the Eagle Forum. He has served as a Trustee of the Green Chimneys School in Brewster, NY, STRIVE of Fairfield County, CT and The Ethical Community Charter School in Brooklyn, NY.
He is the recipient of the 1994 YWCA African-American Heritage First Award. He was recognized by New York City Investigation Commissioner Susan Sheppard for his special contributions to her agency and by the Board of Trustees of the Green Chimneys School.
